KIDSGROVE CHESS CLUB BACK IN ACTION!

Kidsgrove have begun playing matches . This is despite no face to face activity due to the continuing COVID restrictions.  This is due to an online chess competition being set up by Crewe Chess Club.  This uses the online chess product called "LICHESS" which is free to download. The club played its first match online against Crewe . Crewe were victorious 6-2. However it was a new experience and the club will take part in further matches in the coming weeks.

Season End 18/19

The 18/19 Ended with Dave Johnson winning the Roy Bennett trophy which is our internal competition where all players play each other.. (All results on the League Management System)

The league games in the NSDCA Div4 were finished a bit later than expected due to rearranged matches cancelled earlier in the year taking place. A steady finish in what was a difficult few months as our  membership went through some changes and thanks to the energy of our new member we kept a full team going.

As the new season approaches the club would like to attract new members.  Please contact us if you are interested and any level of ability is welcome. The summer is a good time to come have ago whilst there are no formal matches taking place.  There is no charge to come and try some chess.

We have our AGM on the 9/7/19.  I will update after the outcome.

Steady progress as the season continues

Although there have not been many updates recently there has been plenty of chess played. We have welcomed two new members who are actively playing both in the league and our internal club tournament. We are also delighted to have a junior player coming along and developing there chess skills.  (See the link to the league details)

Dave is the leader currently in our club competition, but there is plenty of time for others to catch up.

The club would like to attract new members. If we could attract 2 or 3 more committed players this would allow the club to form a second team. Please contact us if you are interested.

Julian (Better know as Jules) has played for the club since 2013 and has been the team captain. He has played a major part in keeping the club going when resources have been stretched

Jules plays most of his chess in individual tournaments and has had a lot of success. We wish him well .
